Are easter gifts a thing in Nigeria?

First off, why are easter holidays so short ? Just when you think you're finally getting into the holiday feel, you get an email from Titi - Team lead reminding you to ensure you send XYZ files first thing tomorrow morning and boom it suddenly dawns on you that the holiday's celebration has come to an end😩.

I don't know if it's possible but can the federal government do something about this already?

Phew 😮‍💨, since that's off my chest, let's talk about easter and gifts.

Remember that one distant cousin you find awkward, you aren't really sure how you're related but you do know he belongs to your family lineage hence you find yourself wondering how exactly he'll love to be treated?

That's exactly how people handle gifting during the easter holidays. Most people are stuck between " what the heck is Easter gift, Easter isn't really such a joyous occasion considering the fact that our Lord Jesus was nailed on the cross" and  " Easter symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus and our freedom from sin so one deserves to get a gift on such special occasion, it's a holiday regardless and every holidays should be celebrated with gifts!😁" .

I'm not sure where you stand when it comes to giving and receiving Easter gifts but I do know I can give you tips on the kind of gifts you could consider giving someone this Easter holidays 😉.

Create of Eggs:

  yep , eggs! . I mean have you seen the current price of eggs?😩. I'm not sure who came up with this idea but eggs are believed to represent new life and rebirth. It represents the empty tomb from which Jesus resurrected hence eggs have become a very symbolic meal for Easter celebration.

A crate of egg might not mean much to you but it could go a long way for the family down the street that's struggling to get by with life .

Who says Susan would not be over the moon when gifted a crate of eggs, remember she has kids and they love eggs 😌.

Gift Vouchers:

Heres one more way you could get creative with eggs; organize an egg hunt amongst your kids or friends ( who says adults can't play fun games with eggs), the one who finds the most eggs get to win a gift voucher 😁. Money :

let's be honest, with the situation of things in the country at the moment, many people would pick an envelope of money over anything . When you aren't so sure what a person would like , just opt for cash. They get to use the money for what they truly need or desire. So yes, ask for their account number and send a little token 🤗. You could also ask for mine, I'm very generous with it 😂( just kidding 🤗) .

Kindness:

Easter is all about forgiveness, kindness and showing compassion . The best gift you could give to anyone is showing kindness and love to them.

It doesn't have to be a physical gift, it could be a text saying checking in on them. Reaching out to a loved one you fell out with to talk and mend things.

You could also reach out to the less privileged around you and just sharing what you can with them.

Food items:

it could be a plate of their favorite food, some cups of raw rice or food hamper. Whichever you can afford, with the cost of food items today, you'll be lifting a heavy burden off someone chest with this kind gesture.
