It's time!!! 💃 (like Mariah Carey says). The long-awaited Christmas holiday is finally here, and as always, the air is full with happiness😌. The IJGBs are already arriving in large numbers, family members are reuniting, and it's officially gifting season 🎉💃.

As a result, we'll embark on a global journey to learn about Christmas gifting traditions and how they are done in various regions of the world.

Christmas gifting traditions vary greatly around the world, reflecting the unique cultures, religions, and customs of different countries. For instance: The exchange of gifts on Christmas Day is a widespread Christmas gifting practice in the United States. Families and friends join together to receive gifts, which are sometimes placed under a decorated Christmas tree.

This gift-giving custom during Christmas in the United States represents love, generosity, and the spirit of giving.

When travelling to Germany, the "Christkind" tradition involves a distinctive gift-bringer who is frequently depicted as a child angelic figure.

In certain parts of Germany, gifts are exchanged on December 6th for St. Nicholas Day, whereas in others, presents are unwrapped on Christmas Eve. The focus is on thoughtful gifts that provide joy and warmth to loved ones.

Giving and receiving 'Christmas gifts' is an important element of the Nigerian holiday season. Nigerians frequently give gifts with family, friends, and even colleagues to express gratitude and establish ties.

During the holidays, most churches would conduct a gift-giving program for their local community, particularly the needy.

In Mexico, Christmas gifting traditions are intertwined with the vibrant celebration of Las Posadas. During this nine-day festival leading up to Christmas, children reenact the journey of Mary and Joseph seeking shelter in Bethlehem. One of the highlights is the breaking of piñatas filled with candies and small toys, spreading cheer and delight among participants.

Moving to Italy, the tradition of "La Befana" adds a touch of folklore to Christmas gifting. La Befana is a kind old witch who flies on a broomstick, delivering gifts to children on the eve of Epiphany, January 6th. Children leave out stockings or shoes for La Befana to fill with sweets and small presents, creating a magical and whimsical Christmas tradition.

I could go on and on with this list but one thing to note is that these enchanting Christmas gifting traditions from different parts of the world showcase the rich tapestry of customs and beliefs that make the holiday season a time of joy, togetherness, and the spirit of giving. Whether it's through cherished family rituals or community celebrations, Gift exchanges during Christmas embodies the essence of love, sharing, and goodwill.

Would you be gifting anyone this Christmas?😁
