Lessons, Laughter & Lagos: My Work Trip to the BusyBee Events Summit

There’s something magical about working outside a designated work environment. It doesn’t matter how much work you have to do; it never really feels like work. At most, you could describe it as a workation.

I know you think I’m crazy. Relax… 😂

Maybe it’s the change of environment, the excitement of being away from the norm, or the bonding you get to do with your colleagues (if it isn’t a solo trip). I’m not sure what the magical part is, but I am a strong advocate for work trips. 😌

Weeks ago, in the ever energetic city of Ikeja, Lagos, I attended the BusyBee Events Business Summit 9.0 alongside other staff of SincerelyYoursNG.

A business summit specially curated for vendors in the events space.

The perfect place to connect with other entrepreneurs in the event space, meet potential celebrants, and most importantly, spread the gospel of SincerelyYoursNG. 😌🥳

To be honest, I went in with a mix of curiosity and hope. Curiosity about who I’d meet, how the event would turn out in general, and hope that I’d make the most of the experience. And I did. It was fun. A different kind of fun.

One of the highlights was getting to talk to lots of people about what a gift registry is and how it benefits them. (I haven’t spoken to that many people at once in forever 🙂).

It didn’t take long to realize how very few people know what a gift registry is.

Luckily, the gift registry industry in Nigeria is still in its budding stage, with SincerelyYoursNG topping the chart of course. 😌

I got to hear a lot of people say, “Wow, that’s such a brilliant idea,” “I love it!” ...

So there I was, breaking it down, answering questions, and watching eyes light up as the concept clicked. It felt really good. A little too good. 😁

You know how teachers say they find fulfillment in imparting knowledge? I finally get it.

There really is something fulfilling about educating others on something you believe in.

Would I do it again? Absolutely.

And of course, the other exhibitors. Connecting with fellow creatives in the event space, planners, decorators, bakers, photographers and others was such a delight.

Oh, how refreshing it was to be in a room full of people who get it: your pain points, struggles, and wins alike. A room filled with people who would go to any length to see their business grow. 🥹

With each conversation you realize we are all just trying our best at the end of the day.

Misery loves company? No. I believe realizing that your struggles aren’t exclusive to you gives you a certain kind of comfort.

Speaking of struggles, one thing you shouldn’t be struggling with in 2025 is getting wrong gifts.

Why put on a false smile while saying “Thank you” because you just unwrapped the sixth kitchen knife set from six different people at your wedding, when you can get your loved ones to bring your wishlist to life through a gift registry?

Imagine how exciting every minute spent unwrapping each present would be.

The one thing you once wished for unfolding right before you. 🤭

To curate a wishlist for your next event, visit www.sincerelyyours.com.ng or reach us via DM across all social media platforms @SincerelyYoursNG.

We can’t wait to be a part of your big day. 😁

In conclusion, the summit stretched me😊, Lagos entertained me😑, and the people made it memorable☺️.
